Past Updates

May 13, 2011: On May 10, 2011 Soulless issued a cease and desist order to Earache Records regarding their upcoming US release of a UK band calling themselves “The Soulless”. Commented Soulless front man Jim Lippucci: “It's quite unfortunate that it has come to this. We notified the band months ago upon learning of their intent to use the name “The Soulless” that this name was pretty much Identical to ours. We were assured that Earache would be in contact with us to remedy the situation, but that call never came. We have nothing but respect for young bands and the struggle we all go through to make this music. At the same time though, we expect bands and labels to perform their due diligence and make sure that the intellectual property of others is respected. Through a simple internet search they would have ascertained that we have been performing, touring and releasing music in the US as Soulless for close to 15 years. Simply adding the word “The” does not change that fact. It pains us that the label that brought us some of metals most legendary releases from bands like Morbid Angel, Bolt Thrower, Carcass and so many others shows such blatant disregard for our rights. Litigation is the last thing we want at this time. We are a metal band and would prefer to focus on making music. At the same time, we have no choice but to fight for the protection of our intellectual property. We have struggled for years to establish our name and reputation and we will defend it with the same ferocity and fervor that we put into making music.”
The order calls for Earache to immediately cease and desist in the production, distribution and promotion of any materials associated with the name “The Soulless'' in the United States, including, but not limited to compact discs, DVD's, mp3's, t-shirts and other similar media/memorabilia. It also demands that any web presence that is accessible within the United States bearing the offensive mark be immediately removed from the World Wide Web. This includes but is not limited to web pages, blogs,MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia pages, etc.

Hails Fiends! It seems like forever since we had a web update...And it has been. Apparently we employ a web master who believes drunken debauchery is more important than taking care of responsibilities. That sort of attitude will definitely get you far in the Soulless camp and the band applauds this ethic.
On to what's happening...
Winters freezing grip once more chills America's north coast with frigid winds and talons of ice. Beneath the darkened gloom a furnace of molten rage churns as the band finishes writing material for their next full length. We've just begun some preproduction in the legendary Bad Back Studios working with Big Metal and his cat. The working title of this upcoming opus is "Fixin' Wagons & Holdin' Jaws: Into the Forbidden Zone" and we're shooting for a June 2009 release. Label info and more details to come...

Hails Creeps! We've been shunning the harsh light of summer, lurking in dank cellars and taverns, brewing evil, metal and even some beer. We've also been toiling away on our next opus, working title: "Fixin' Wagons & Holdin' Jaws" and should be done writing towards the end of summer. That's all you need to know.
Until Then...

Vocalist Jim Lippucci finally broke away from the buffet and beer locker just long enough to record his vocal tracks for the upcoming Soulless full length. As always, alcohol and epithets flowed like rivers leaving all involved slightly giddy and completely morally and financially bankrupt. The process of mixing should begin at Spider Studios in the near future with metal wunderkind Ben Schigel at the helm. The Record is entitled"Forever Defiant" and should be out on some label some day. H

We're happy to tell you that Big Metal finished recording his bass tracks for the new full length this past Saturday. This milestone was celebrated with waves of liquor, beer and nachos along with the occasional punch to the ribs. Next up will be vocals, as soon as Lippucci can get the chicken bones out of his ancient swine gullet and do the work. We'll keep you posted.

Hails Hellions...It's been a while since the last update, we've been busy doing other things, like writing, recording and drinking.  On September 18th and 19th we returned to the scene of our "Darkening of Days" album, Spider Studio, to try out some of the new material.  In true Soulless fashion the tunes came out particularly bone shattering, and will be posted here in the coming days. We will continue to make our previous 4 song "Betray the Light " demo available for download in our Audio pages for a limited time, so if you want it you better get it.

Work on the "Scorn on the Fourth of July" split 7" w/ Nunslaughter is finished and the record should be released in late October or early November.  The Soulless side will feature live recordings of "Bleeding Darkness" and "Downward".  As a sort of preview, we have posted an MP3 from that day in our
Audio Section: A cover of the Rainbow classic "Kill the King".  This version is only a rough mix but should give you an idea of the havoc created as we celebrated our infernal independence with our metal brothers and beer.

June 7, 2002 The band is extremely pleased to announce that they have signed to the Japanese metal foundry known as Worldchaos Production. Worldchaos has been responsible for spreading great thrash metal mayhem to all corners of the globe with the likes of the mighty Terror Squad, Grimforce, King's Evil, and many others. Worldchaos specializes in an excellent brand of brutal, neckbreaking thrash metal and is a perfect match for Soulless. June 3, 2002 Soulless will return to the studio in early July to finish recording and mixing our new album. We're looking towards a fall release...detailed info to follow....

May 3, 2002  It's been a while since our last update and there's been a lot going on... After The departure of bassist Tony Daprano, Soulless would like to welcome new bassist Dave Johnson, formerly of Ascension and many other north coast miscreant metal creations. Through a shear voracious hunger for metal, Dave was able to join the band April 6 - 9 in the Mars Recording Compound as they recorded 10 tracks under the mystical influence of the mighty Bill Korecky for an upcoming release. The project should be completed within the next four to six weeks. No label or release date are available at this time.

Soulless will be apearing at the Death Metal Fest 2002 James Murphy Benefit May 19th in Indianopolis, Indiana, And Also at Peabody's in Cleveland with Manowar, Immortal and Dead of Night.
Check out our
Shows for details.

February 3, 2002  After what seems like an eternity, Soulless  will be entering Mars Recording in late March to begin the follow up to" The Darkening of Days", tentatively entitled "Agony's Lament".  It looks as though this effort will again be self produced, as no labels have yet committed themselves to the band . Needless to say the band is disappointed by this lack of support, especially in light of the strong response the three song  "Bleeding Darkness" promo has received from labels (We are particularly disappointed by the glut of "Nu Metal" crap that many so called "underground" labels have been releasing).  The band is very confident that someone will distribute the new release based on the strength of the finished product.  Here is the tentative track listing: Bleeding Darkness, Downward, Suffer the Fallen, Agonies, The Soulscythe, Exile, Terror of Twilight, The Empty Deadness plus three songs currently untitled. We also are still seeking parties interested in re-releasing our first disk, as quantities continue to dwindle. All interested in supporting our endeavors should immediately Contact Us with promises of large amounts of money

The Band regrets to announce that bassist Tony Daprano has left the band, due to a conflict of interests.  No replacement has been found. Guitarist  Wayne Richards will handle bass duties when the band begins recording in March.  We will be seeking a permanent replacement after the recording is completed.  Parties wishing to audition should Contact Us.  In addition we are currently searching for demented and talented artists to create album covers and t-shirt art.  You too should also Contact Us.

It seems it is a dark period for metal, first with the loss of Chuck Schuldiner and now the passing of TRUE  Exodus vocalist Paul Baloff.  Paul was quite possibly one of thrash metal's greatest voices. His contribution to metal will never be forgotten, and his legend and  influence will live on.

November 24, 2001  We've  posted an  mp3 for "Soulscythe", one of our newer songs on our Hymns  page .  The song was recorded live in Cleveland in October.  We've got some new photos in the Visions Section and have updated the Soulless Memoir.

Chris will be on tour with Ringworm for the next month, So we'll be relaxing through the holidays.  We'll be playing shows regionally through  January  & February after which we hope to begin recording our new album.

As always any labels, distros, or promoters interested in supporting our endeavors, please Contact Us

November 6, 2001: Our shows In Parma Oct. 19th and in Kent Oct. 25th were excellent and we want to thank everyone who showed up and all of the bands involved.  Thanks for supporting metal.  We're making a few changes to the site along with a bunch of updates.  There are photos of some of our recent shows in the Visions section.  Also, keep checking out Hymns for new Mp3's.  We're in the process of producing some new long sleeves, and another shirt should be available soon.  Go to Wares for Cd's, shirts & stickers.
Our supply of "The Darkening of Days"  Cd's is nearly depleted.  Any labels, distros, or individuals interested in repressing the disk should
Contact Us.  Once the Cd's are gone we're not sure when or if they'll be available again.  Much thanks to all who picked up a copy.  The band will be using the time around the holidays to compile, complete and rehearse the songs for the next Soulless album.  We hope to record in early 2002.  Any labels or distros willing to produce and or distribute our stuff should  Contact Us.  We're also looking for help setting up shows throughout the U.S. & Canada.  Promoters and bands interested in trading shows should also Contact Us.

September 30, 2001: Soulless will be playing at the Revolution in Parma Friday Oct. 19. With Somnus & All That Is Evil.  Check out  Shows For details. Here's the flyer. Soon to come: Expect new Mp3's & photos around the middle of October along with review updates and hopefully interviews.  Any zines that received  promos should contact us, as we would like to post any reviews.  If you have a website for your zine we would also like to post a link.

August 13, 2001: It's been a while since our last update.  My computer malfunctions over the last three months are to blame. Congratulations to Soulless drummer Chris Dora's and the rest of Ringworm, who recently  signed with Victory Records.  The band will enter Mars Studio in August to record a full length. In addition guitarist Matt Sorg (Blood of Christ, From the Depths, Dead of Night) has joined the band.

Beyond that, we've been writing new  songs and shopping our new demo.  We really aren't getting any real offers, so it looks like we may have to start trying to find a way to put  our next album out ourselves, so buy lots of our merch.

May 6,  2001: We hope to  play some shows and travel over the summer, but in the meantime we've been writing and refining new material.  We continue to seek a label and are ready to record a bunch of material but no one is really interested yet... Look for live versions of new material to pop up here and there...Site Update (5/6/01) You can now purchase Soulless merch securely through this site.  Look for a bunch of new stuff in the next few weeks.  We  need your money.

March 26 2001: Best wishes go out to Mike Saez Of Incantation who was injured while trying to separate a friend and another individual from fighting at a show at the Voodoo Lounge in Queens NY on Friday March 24. Mike was stabbed in the arm, slicing the bicep, skin and tendon and was rushed to the hospital.   Chris Shaw of NY Death Metal band Deathrune, Mike's friend and former band mate was stabbed seven times in the back and received a massive slash to the face that ran from the ear to chin. At this moment Chris lies in critical condition at North Shore Hospital in New York. The assailant attempted to flee the scene and was chased down by Incantation drummer Kyle Severn, who held the man until police arrived.  This was the 2nd night of the World of Darkness tour with Immolation and Goatwhore and was to be a 4-week run across the U.S. from March through April. However, Incantation was forced to end the tour due to the serious nature of Mike's injuries.  The band suffered another setback earlier that same day when their van was broken into and most of their personal belongings and band merchandise were stolen. Our thoughts are with our brothers and we can only  hope that those individuals responsible for these deeds receive swift and brutal justice.
The March 23rd WJCU benefit Show seems to have been a great success.  An energetic crowd greeted   Soulless as the band kicked off  the two day local metal showcase, held in Parma, Ohio- the bands sacred home turf.  A double horned salute goes out show promoter and Cleveland Metal  Mainstay Bill Peters.  Bill's college radio show, "Metal on Metal" has been punishing the Cleveland airwaves for over a decade and he is the founder of Cleveland based Auburn records, the label that brought us  the mighty Destructor, Breaker, and Shok Paris, just to name a few.  Bill produced and distributed an 18 song sampler disk featuring two songs from each of the bands appearing over the two nights.  Friday March 23rd featured SOULLESS, VICTORY FLAG, RUN DEVIL RUN & SPAWN. Saturday, March 24  featured FLATLINE, ERECTO-JECTOR, M.S.O.D. & GATLIN.  Soulless Contributed DEVILISH from their Darkening of Days CD and SUFFER THE FALLEN, a previously unreleased track  (from the bands 2001 Bleeding Darkness promo) to the limited quantity CD sampler. Thanks to Billy Morris and Revolution for the great sound and club and to all the bands and metal supporters that made the show such a blast.
